Roxie doesn't believe in love nor does she want to fall in love. She will sometimes hook up with people, but will forget about them the next day--she's willing to try anything once, which is sometimes taken advantage of. Because she's so willing to try anything, Roxie has done some drugs and drank a bit during parties. She enjoys drinking, but not to the level that her father drank. Roxie also smokes, but she will only smoke Camel Menthol Silvers--none of that full flavor shit for her!
In all honesty, she wishes that her father had been around more when she was little. Now that the opportunity is there, Roxie is very afraid that he'll abandon them again, which is why she refuses to talk to him or see him.
Roxie will often sneak animals onto the tour bus, much to her band mates annoyance. There's nothing worse than being woken up by the yowls of a skinny stray cat after a night of partying!
likes;; Cats, dogs, raccoons, deer--just about any kind of animal. Her favorite kind of animal are alligators, and she often will endorse alligator rescue/rehabilitation programs. Roxie likes smoking menthol cigarettes, as she believes they help her voice get to the frequency it needs to be as a female screamer. Roxie likes any kind of music, from country to dubstep--as long as it has some kind of beat. She also enjoys dancing, and can often be found in the middle of the dance floor at a club. Roxie likes being warm and her favorite style of dress is some sort of jean and a tee shirt. Roxie loves her family and will do just about anything for them.
dislikes;; Roxie doesn't like her father, nor does like alcoholism though she will drink from time to time. She has a healthy dislike for the fame and being away from her family for long periods of time. She also has a love-hate relationship with her fans: while she appreciates them, she doesn't go out of her way to converse with them even during meet-and-greets.
quirks and habits;; Roxie has a habit of adopting strays and bringing them onto the tour bus, much to her bandmate's displeasure. She also enjoys video games such as Halo and Left 4 Dead, but has a strong dislike for Call of Duty.
strengths;; Roxie is a very good horseback rider. She also enjoys going to the local racetracks at home and betting on the Thoroughbreds and wins big sometimes! Roxie is very good at listening to other people's problems, and will often play the "peace-keeper" when she's on the road. She's very fluent in French. Roxie has a determination to succeed.
weaknesses;; Her family, animals, smoking, being a "people pleaser." She holds grudges easily and has a bit of a short fuse.
fears;; Being deserted by people she cares about. She tries not to get close to people.
goals;; Retire from music and become a psychiatrist. Eventually find some sort of happiness and acceptance.
history;; Roxie was born on September 21, 1987 to Lonnie Hillwig (nee Winford) and Clayton Hillwig, both in their early thirties. She was born at what is now the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, South Dakota. Her only sibling at the time was an older brother by two years.
Roxie's family lived with her paternal grandmother on her ranch in South Dakota until she was four years old and her parents were expecting another child. Lonnie did not want all of her children to grow up in the country, so they packed up and moved to the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Shortly after, Roxie's younger brother was born.
Because of his mother's ailing health (and for his own reasons), Clayton would often be gone working the ranch in South Dakota. Roxie and her siblings did not see much of their father while growing up. While her father frequently sent paychecks to the family, her mother was often struggling with money.
Roxie did well in school despite the problems at home. Truth be told, Roxie enjoyed school and didn't like vacations or weekends. Roxie was a likeable child and developed a good group of friends.
Despite Lonnie not wanting her children to grow up country, the Hillwig kids were always around animals. To cut the cost of living, Lonnie would always have one or two cows, a few horses, a pig, and several chickens. Lonnie had a soft spot in her heart for stray animals, and would often give dogs, cats, and even young raccoons temporary homes.
Roxie's grandmother died when she was ten, and she thusly inherited all her old records and a record machine. This was what sparked Roxie's interest in music as well as her goal to eventually start a band and become famous enough to help foot the bills at home.
Clayton returned to the home in Florida when the ranch in South Dakota went up for sale. He was prone to bouts of depression during this time and sometimes would turn to alcohol to solve his problems--while he never once laid a hand on Lonnie or his kids, Clayton would often be escorted home from the bar by a police officer. After a few years, Lonnie threatened Clayton with divorce if he didn't clean up his act. It didn't work, and the couple separated when Roxie was fifteen, her mother keeping the home in Florida and her father moving back to South Dakota.
Her father's drinking got steadily worse until he landed himself in the ER on New Year's Eve of 2005, the year that Roxie graduated from high school. It was at this point that Clayton finally sought professional help for his depression and alcoholism and began to attend AA; he also began to encourage Roxie and her siblings to attend Al-Anon.
Since her father's sobering up, her mother and older brother have gotten back in touch with him and have even flown up to South Dakota to see him. It is not foretold if the couple will get back together, but Roxie and her younger brother haven't seen their father in seven years. Roxie doesn't plan on getting into contact with him any time soon, either.
After high school, she attended the University of Toronto (having taken French in high school) for PreMed and a minor in Psychology. Her intentions were to become a Psychiatrist. It was around this time that Roxie really indulged herself in music that was really popular at the time. She began to become very influenced by bands like Otep, Despised Icon, and Flyleaf, and took vocal lessons to develop a voice that can be sweet and soft one moment and rugged and loud the next. She was scouted while singing at a bar one night and thrown into Lunacy's Disadvantage as a screamer.
Roxie and her bandmates clicked pretty well, despite her homesickness and the hard time she had getting used to life as a musician. She still harbors a certain desire to become a Psychiatrist, and has tried to keep up with her schoolwork on the road even if it proves to be difficult.

what makes the world go 'round?;; <3
roleplay sample;;
It was good to be back in the States, even if she wasn’t from Los Angeles. Before the Scream It Tour had selected her and the other members of Clear Radiation in the contest, she had been attending college in Toronto. It was far enough from Saratoga, but there was something about being in another country (even for the betterment of her education) that made her feel more homesick than being in Los Angeles. Maybe it was because the majority of people here spoke English, which was her native tongue, and she didn’t feel lost. Despite the fact that Roxie had taken French in High School, she still struggled with the language. She could understand it and speak it well enough, but it took her longer to say things and fully comprehend what people were saying—especially the native speakers.
She woke up early and wandered aimlessly around her hotel room. It was still a shock that only six months ago she had been nothing but a college kid who could sing. Roxie still wasn’t sure if this was what she really wanted, but being famous wasn’t all that bad. She could get whatever she wanted and send money home to her family in New York, but at the same time… there were people that she couldn’t get close to, she could hardly ever go anywhere by herself because the paparazzi were so curious about the new band, and most of all, she missed her family.
Roxie sighed and began to get dressed, throwing on a rather edgy-but-bland looking outfit save for the shoes and the bag. Generally speaking, Roxie wasn’t an elaborate dresser, but she was definitely a fan of bright colors and cute shoes.
She left the hotel out the back (after spending five minutes convincing the security guard that she didn’t need an escort) and made her way up the street toward the closest Starbucks, a place she had been religiously attending each morning. Luckily, it was early enough and she went unnoticed. There were some benefits to not being as famous as Jennifer Lopez or Madonna.
Entering the small coffee shop, she orders her drink (a short Caramel Macchiato) after waiting in line and heads to the pick up counter, knowing full well she had a long wait ahead of her.
Turning to the closest person, she smiles gently and says, “You’d think that by now they’d learn to speed up the service here, huh?”
